Refund Policy
Getting your money back.
Last updated 15 September 2026
Lessons, classes and Sound Check: if I haven’t delivered it yet, you can usually have your money back. Digital products are delivered instantly, so they can’t be refunded once they’ve arrived, unless something is wrong with them. And if something genuinely went wrong at my end, you don’t need to argue with me about it. Just say so.
Lessons and lesson packs
Lessons are booked and paid for through Calendly, and payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars: one lesson is $65, ten lessons are $590 and twenty lessons are $1,100.
Single lessons
If you cancel at least 24 hours before your lesson, just ask and I’ll refund it in full.
Lesson packs
Changed your mind? Within 14 days of buying a pack, you can have a refund for the lessons you haven’t used. Any lessons you’ve already had are charged at the single-lesson price of $65 rather than the pack price, since the discount was for committing to the whole pack. Example: you buy ten lessons for $590, have 3 of them, and ask to stop within the 14 days. Those 3 lessons come to $195 at $65 each, so you’re refunded $395.
After 14 days, packs aren’t refundable, but they stay valid for their full period: 6 months from the day you buy a ten-lesson pack, and 12 months for a twenty-lesson pack.
If a lesson wasn’t good enough
Tell me. If you were genuinely dissatisfied with a lesson, I’ll refund it or teach it again, whichever you prefer. I’d rather fix it than keep money from someone who feels short-changed.
Missed lessons
With less than 24 hours’ notice, or if you miss the lesson, it’s charged in full (or counts as used if it’s from a pack), and it isn’t refundable. If I have to cancel, you can reschedule or have a full refund for that lesson, whichever you prefer.
The Tea Room
- Single class — refundable any time before the class starts. Once it’s run, it’s run.
- Four-class pass — refundable pro rata for classes not yet held. If you’ve attended two of four and want to stop, you get half back.
- If I cancel a class, it’s added to your pass or refunded, your choice.
Sound Check
Refundable in full any time before I’ve sent your assessment.
Once I’ve sent it, it isn’t refundable — the work is done and it can’t be returned. The exception: if your recording turns out to be unusable, I’ll tell you and refund you rather than guess at an assessment. I won’t take your money for a diagnosis I can’t honestly make.
Native Phrase Lab, premium, All Access and Willowbrook
These are delivered instantly, so they can’t be refunded once your key or download has arrived. At checkout you tick a box to say you want instant access and understand that this ends your right to cancel.
If something is wrong, I’ll put it right. If it won’t unlock, doesn’t work, or isn’t what the page described, tell me. I’ll fix it, and if I can’t, I’ll refund you. If a purchase is refunded, its access is switched off.
Bought before 15 September 2026? You keep the 14-day, no-questions-asked promise you bought with.
Corporate programmes
Corporate work is confirmed in writing and refunds follow whatever we agreed there. As a default: full refund more than 14 days before the first session, 50% within 14 days, and sessions already delivered are payable. Anything I cancel is refunded in full.
How to ask
Email me at james@easyenglishwithjames.com or message me through the contact form. Tell me what you bought and roughly when, and for a digital product, what isn’t working. There’s no form.
I aim to reply within two days and to send the money back within five working days of agreeing it. Refunds always go back to the original payment method, and how quickly the money appears is up to your bank or payment provider, not me.
Your statutory rights
Nothing here reduces any right you have by law where you live. UK and EU consumers have a 14-day right to cancel most online purchases, and the rules for lessons, packs, the Tea Room and Sound Check above follow it. For digital products, that right ends once you’ve asked for instant access and your key or download has been delivered. Whatever you bought, you always keep your rights if it’s faulty or not as described.
Why it’s written this way. If you cancel a lesson in time, you shouldn’t have to chase your money, so you won’t. Digital products can be copied the moment they arrive, so they aren’t refundable just for a change of mind, but if something is wrong I’ll put it right quickly.
