The deal between us.

1. Who you’re dealing with

This site and everything sold through it is operated by James Templeton, trading as Easy English with James, an individual sole trader.

You can reach me through the contact form on this site, and I read every message myself. There is no support team — it’s me.

Using this site, or buying anything through it, means you accept these terms. If you don’t accept them, please don’t buy anything.

2. What I sell

• One-to-one lessons — live online English tuition, individually or in prepaid packs.
• The Tea Room — a live group conversation class, sold per class or by monthly pass.
• Sound Check — a written and recorded pronunciation assessment delivered to you.
• Corporate training — programmes delivered to teams, arranged individually and confirmed in writing.
• Digital products — Native Phrase Lab and premium access to material on this site.

Free material on this site is free. I may add to it, change it or remove it at any time, and nothing free comes with a guarantee that it will still be here tomorrow.

3. Lessons: booking, cancelling and expiry

Cancelling and rescheduling

Give me at least 24 hours’ notice and we’ll rearrange with no charge and no fuss. Cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, or don’t turn up, and that lesson is treated as taught.

If I have to cancel — illness, an emergency, a technical failure at my end — you get that lesson back in full, no exceptions.

Lateness

Lessons finish at their scheduled time. If you’re late, we work with the time that’s left. If I’m late, you get that time back.

When packs expire

1 and 5-lesson packs should be used within 3 months. 10 and 20-lesson packs within 6 months. These exist to keep your learning moving, not to catch you out — if life gets in the way, tell me and I will almost always extend it.

The free trial

The free 15-minute trial is one per person. It exists so we can meet before you commit to anything.

4. Digital products and access

When you buy a digital product you receive a personal licence to use it yourself. You may use it on your own devices, for as long as the product exists.

You may not share, resell, republish or redistribute it, or pass your unlock key to anyone else. Keys are issued per purchase, and a key found circulating publicly will be disabled.

I intend to keep these products available and working, but I can’t promise a specific product will exist forever. If I ever retire one, I’ll give existing buyers reasonable notice and a way to keep what they can.

5. Behaviour

The Tea Room and group sessions are shared spaces with people who are nervous about speaking. I ask everyone to be patient and kind, and I’ll remove anyone who isn’t — without a refund for the remainder, if the behaviour was serious.

Lessons are for learning English. I reserve the right to end a lesson or decline future bookings if someone is abusive, and to refund unused lessons if I do.

6. What I don’t promise

I’ve taught for over twelve years and I’ll give you my honest professional judgement. But I cannot guarantee an outcome: not a specific IELTS band, not a job, not a visa, not fluency by a particular date. Progress depends on how much work you put in between lessons, which is not something I control.

Nothing here is legal, medical, financial or immigration advice.

Live sessions depend on the internet. If a session is badly disrupted by a technical problem, tell me and I’ll repeat or extend it.

To the extent the law allows, my liability for anything connected to these services is limited to the amount you actually paid me for the service in question.

7. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms. The version published here at the time of your purchase is the one that applies to it. Material changes will be dated at the top of this page.

8. Governing law

I am a British national living and working in Thailand. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and nothing here removes any statutory right you have as a consumer in your own country.

Written by a teacher, not a lawyer. I’ve tried to write these plainly rather than defensively. If anything here is unclear or seems unfair, tell me and I’ll look at it again.
